Forskning

Peter Hansbos forskning syftar till att utveckla bättre (snabbare, noggrannare, enklare) numeriska modeller för lösning av problem inom de klassiska fältteorierna, dvs. system av partiella differentialekvationer som beskriver fenomen som strömning, hållfasthet och vågutbredning. Speciellt fokuserar han på multifysikproblem, till exempel koppling mellan olika fysikaliska system såsom fluid-strukturinteraktion.

Peter Hansbo är främst känd för sina arbeten inom adaptiva Finita-Element-Metoder (FEM), stabiliserad FEM för konvektionsdominerad strömning, diskontinuerlig FEM, samt för metoder för modellkoppling över gränssnitt.
